Principal investigator

Ajay is a Ramanujan Faculty Fellow at the Trivedi School of Biosciences, Ashoka University.

Before joining Ashoka, he was a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University, in the laboratory of Dr. Jason Buenrostro. There, he led the development of Expansion In Situ Genome Sequencing (ExISGS), a spatial genomics platform for sequencing genomic DNA in situ and mapping chromatin architecture at the nanoscale within intact biological samples.

Ajay earned his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune. His research examined chromatin organization and gene regulation, focusing on how nuclear pore complex proteins regulate the spatial and temporal dynamics of gene clusters during cellular differentiation.

He joined Harvard with the Building Bharat–Boston Biosciences (B4) Fellowship, supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
